(Update: Airline plans to fly SFO-Mexico City)According to the airline route updates blog, AeroMexico has applied to operate a Oakland to Mexico City route effective December 2, 2008. If approved, the flight would operate daily on a Boeing 737 aircraft.
The added service could benefit consumers. The only non-stop flights offered from the greater Bay Area are from San Francisco (United and Mexicana) and Sacramento (Mexicana). The increase in total available seats between the Bay and Mexico City may help drive down prices in the coming months.
AeroMexico is part of the SkyTeam airline alliance.
