Excellent Airline Credit Card Offers Currently Available

One of the most frequent questions I receive is, "which airline credit card should I apply for?" My response is simple: "It depends." Coming from a financial background, I always recommend you consider your unique situation before applying for a credit card. No single card is perfect; low interest rate, free balance transfer, no annual fee, bonus points/miles offers for first use, etc. It is hard to find one card alone that offers all this.

That said, there are some amazing airline credit card offers to be had right now! If you are driven by introductory bonus/miles offers, you need to have a look at some of these deals I've come across. Be sure to read all the terms and conditions before applying for any of these:

• Continental Airlines World MasterCard (Chase). 25,000 miles after first spend - enough for a free domestic U.S. award ticket, free checked bag allowance, earn at least 1 mile per $1 spent and no annual fee the first year.

• JetBlue American Express Card. 20,000 TrueBlue Points after first spend, no blackout dates on award redemption's, earn at least 1 mile per $1 spent, $40 annual fee. Award redemption's start at only 5,000 miles.

• United Airlines Mileage Plus Visa (Chase). 30,000 miles - enough for a free domestic U.S. award ticket - after you spend $250 on the card, Visa signature benefits, earn minimum 1:$1. $60 annual fee.

• Gold Delta SkyMiles Card (American Express). 20,000 miles, $50 cash back your first ticket purchase at Delta.com or nwa.com, earn minimum 1:$1 and no annual fee the first year.

• Starwood American Express Card. 20,000 points after first purchase. This is a great hotel card, with a wonderful selection of properties. Points can be optionally redeemed for airline tickets or converted to airline miles (convert 20,000 points for 25,000 miles!). No annual fee the first year.

Possibly the Best Airline Credit Card Offers Available

It's new, it's hot, and it's all the buzz over in the Flyertalk and FatWallet forums. We're talking about British Airways Visa Signature Card from Chase - where you can earn 50,000 miles for using the card once, 100,000 for spending $2000 within 90 days. But, there are strings attached.

According to the offer, new BA Visa Signature cardholders will earn 50,000 British Airways miles upon first use of the card - enough for a free roundtrip ticket to Europe. Then earn another 50,000 miles when you spend atleast $2000 within 3 months of account opening - which scores you a second roundtrip ticket. Wowie wow!

And now the strings: As with most award ticket redemption's, the customer is responsible for paying all applicable taxes, fees and fuel surcharges. Unfortunately British Airways is notorious for being the "industry leader" in tagging these charges on. So be aware that your award ticket redemption may set you back up to $250 if flying British Airways. Also, British Airways offers limited service to/from the Bay Area, so availability for award seats, which are capacity controlled, may be slim pickins. Finally, keep in mind there is an annual fee on the card of $75.

But here's some good news: You can redeem BA miles on partner airlines, such as Japan, Qantas, and Cathay Pacific, from 50,000 miles. Or choose to use the miles for domestic trips on U.S.-based partners, American and Alaska from 25,000 miles, and the fees would likely be fairly insignificant compared to flying internationally. Something else to be all jazzed about: British Airways has a pretty robust search engine for searching award availability with partner airlines, which helps limit the need to contact the airline directly for bookings.

Overall, this offer impresses me, and may very well be one of the best deals out there. I just received my approval this week and will report back any difficulties. If you are interested in applying, do it soon as word has it the offer may be pulled by months-end.

Tips to Make Air Travel Easy

Taking to the air is often the shortest route between two places, especially if they’re far away. But not many people are comfortable
flying – some are plain scared while others don’t like being cooped in a seat that’s too small for them in a small area that could get claustrophobic. Frequent air travelers resort to certain tricks to make their journey more comfortable, so if you’re apprehensive about air travel, you’d benefit too by implementing these tips:

·Plan your journey well in advance.
·If you’re travelling far, choose a flight plan that allows you to stop over at airports that are known to be comfort havens for travelers.
·If you’re traveling long distances and expect to be jet lagged, book flights that get in at night so you can rest overnight and begin your work refreshed the day after.
·Plan for traffic jams and other impediments when you leave for the airport.
·If you like to be undisturbed during the flight, book a window seat, but if you’d like to get up and move around, ask for an aisle location.
·If you have the option of checking in over the Internet from home, use it to save you some time.
·If you’re travelling with children and/or the elderly, allow enough time for emergencies and delays.
·Aircraft cabins are pressurized, and this tends to dehydrate you. So, as tempting as those in-flight drinks are, avoid them because they only tend to make you thirstier.
·If you’re prone to stiff legs or hate long journeys, walk around the aisles of your plane when it’s safe to.
·Read up on security instructions for carryon and other luggage before you travel.
·Tag your bags with bright colors so that they’re easily identified on the conveyor.
·Wear comfortable clothes and loose shoes so that you’re able to fit your legs into them even if they’re swollen because of the long journey.
·Keep your travel documents carefully.
·Make sure you know enough about the country/place you’re travelling to.
·Talk to others who have been there before, especially about cab fares to and from the airport.
Most drivers tend to rook foreigners and take them for a ride, both literally and figuratively.
·Follow security rules at the airport to avoid unnecessary hassles.

Travelling is a fun experience, and if you have planned your trip well enough, you should come out of it longing for the next one.

Thanks for your email Tony. While many reward programs pay 1 point/mile for each dollar you spend, the introductory bonus of each card varies. I've created a handy list (with links) below of my personal favorites, which all offer generous points/miles after initial usage of the card.

A few things to keep in mind:

-Be aware of the Annual Percentage Rate. If you plan on rolling a balance on a credit card, you should consider searching for cards with a low A.P.R. Not all reward cards have this.
