Spirit Airlines Apologizes, Offers 5,000 Free Miles

As a result of last weeks strike and associated flight cancellations, Spirit Airlines is giving thanks to its customers by giving away 5,000 Free Spirit miles to all members. Simply fill out this form by midnight on June 30th to earn the bonus miles. Note: You must be an existing member of the frequent flyer program to qualify.

Receive 500 bonus American AAdvantage miles when you download their eShopping toolbar on your computer and perform at least one toolbar search or purchase. Using the tool helps you identify sites where you can earn bonus American Airlines miles for browsing or shopping for merchandise. My initial thoughts testing out the toolbar: It's slow. Seems to eat up a lot of computer memory with delayed search returns.

Earn 2,500 Mileage Plus Miles from Red Lion Hotels

In an email last week United announced a new partnership with Red Lion Hotels whereby mileage plus members earn a whopping 2,500 miles for each qualifying stay through June 30, 2010. According to the email, MP members earn 500 miles per stay, plus an additional 2,000 during this limited time offer. Red Lion has hotels throughout the western states, including four in California. Follow these steps to earn the miles:

1. Sign up for the Red Lion R&R club
2. Select the "500 air miles per stay" and "United Mileage Plus"radial buttons and enter your Mileage Plus number while setting your Red Lion R&R settings.
3. Reserve a room and enter promo code UNITED during the booking process.

United Airlines Ends Partnership with Safeway

United Airlines will end the GroceryMiles program with Safeway come March 1st. The program which awards 125 United miles after every $250 in groceries purchased has been around for several years and was often considered a small extra perk (beyond to miles you might earn on your credit card) for shopping at Safeway. In an email last week Safeway said they plan to refocus the value they offered in the airline partnership into lower grocery prices. New United Q1 Promo: Fly Often, Earn up to 20,000 Bonus Miles

Check your email for a new United promotion awarding you up to 20,000 Mileage Plus miles when you book and fly roundtrips before March 31, 2010. This is a targeted offer, and registration is required prior to travel. Also, and this is a biggie, it appears only the higher fare buckets "H" and higher qualify. Therefore, inexpensive seats such as K/L/T/S/W booking classes likely won't qualify (check your specific offer to be sure however).

Earn 1,000 AsiaMiles for Booking Online With Cathay Pacific

Now for a limited time, earn 1,000 AsiaMiles for booking a one-way or round-trip ticket between San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Toronto or Vancouver and Hong Kong and beyond - or between Vancouver and New York. Continental Airlines Offers Double Elite Miles Promotion

Continental is the latest airline to offer a Fall/Winter double elite-qualifying miles promotion. Under the terms, members of Continental's OnePass program will earn double EQM's for all flights between September 9 and December 15, 2009. Registration is required. In the past week, American and United announced similar promotions.

United Offers 500-Mile Booking Bonus to Infrequent Travelers

In an effort to bring in new business and increase bookings on their website, United Airlines is awarding 500 bonus miles to customers who have not purchased tickets from united.com within the past 12 months. According to the terms, the bonus is available for one-way or round-trip tickets purchased at united.com between August 14 and October 31, 2009.

Double Miles With SuperShuttle And Friends Ride For Five

SuperShuttle, the blue van service that takes you to/from the airport is running a couple promotions for the next few weeks. Serving Up Frequent Flyer Miles at Restaurants Near You

What's better than a delicious dinner? A delicious dessert. What's even better than a delicious dessert? Knowing you can earn a plateful of frequent flyer miles for eating both dinner and dessert at some of your favorite restaurants. Here's how it works:

First, continue to use any reward-earning credit card (e.g., airline, hotel, cash back) as you normally would. You will still receive your regular incentive for the card usage.

Second, register for your airlines' Dining Rewards Network program; all the major U.S Carriers have one, each with a unique name. United Airlines, for example, is named Mileage Plus Dining, while American Airlines uses, AAdvantage Dining. For others, look at the air carriers website in the "earning miles" section.

During the registration process, you will be asked to enter the numbers of all your credit cards you want included in the program. There is no cost to register these. Then, once you dine at a participating restaurant, you will earn between 3 and 10 miles per dollar spent. A $90 dine, for instance, would earn up to 900 frequent flyer miles, which usually post to your airline account a few weeks later. The earning of miles is automatic, and the restaurant has no idea you are participating in the program. And, as mentioned above, you continue to earn any existing perks your credit card offers.

Food options range from neighborhood Bistro's to upscale dining. Some restaurants you may already dine at, others are treasures waiting to be found. A few, you might consider passing on. Restaurants throughout the United States and Canada participate. In fact, a few times while out of town I realized after-the-fact I was dining at a participating restaurant when the bonus miles appeared on my mileage statement.
